Health Policy and its Implementation Strategy

The Policy implements the constitutional precepts according to which all citizens have the right to medical and health care, as well as the duty to promote and defend public health. It also provides medical and health assistance to citizens organized through a National Health System that benefits all Mozambican people by promoting the participation of citizens and institutions in raising the level of health in the community. The definition of content to formulate the pillars that guide the Health Policy was obtained from different sources and using various methods. Reviews of guiding/strategic documents of the Sector and Government programs were carried out. Also, consultations with the various levels of the sector and interest groups and the practical approach for the development of Policies and Strategies to improve the quality of health care. This Policy was co-developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and countries embarking on national Health Policy development initiatives.
