National Health Informatics Development Plan of Burundi

The Government of Burundi is committed to the implementation of the National Health Development Plan (2011-2015) to improve the health of the population. The National Plan for the Development of Health Informatics in Burundi is part of the implementation and monitoring of this National Health Development Plan.

National Health Informatics Development Plan of Burundi provides decision-makers, health officials, development partners and citizens with reliable and valid information to allocate resources, measure progress and assess the health situation in the country. It is composed of 2 essential elements:

1. An e-Health Enterprise Architecture for Burundi, which is a drawing of the health information system accompanied by reference documents for its implementation. The architecture identifies the functional needs, the information flows, the relevant actors, the data exchanged and their organization and finally the technological needs in terms of hardware, networks and software.

2. An Implementation Plan that defines the different phases of implementation with practical guidelines and sets up the governance of the implementation.
