Zimbabwe Health Information System Strategy

This strategy seeks to identify information needs for the health sector, make information available, ensure that available information is reliable and accessible, foster utilization of information for policy making, programme planning, implementation, patient management, monitoring and evaluation. To prevent duplication or conflicting solutions being implemented across the health sector, a national health information strategy will ensure that local-level health information decision making remains coordinated. The health information strategy shall make sub-sector information systems communicate with each other. These include information systems for the various Ministry of Health and Child Welfare units dealing with AIDS and TB, maternal health, family planning, child health, nutrition, malaria, mental health, disability and rehabilitation, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, human resources, transport and communication, medical equipment, and finance and administration among others.
