E7mi is the official Tunisian application developed to support the national efforts to fight COVID-19. E7mi is a mobile application allowing to determine the position of people infected with the coronavirus and that of all people in contact with them in public spaces and in means of transport via mobile phones and tablets equipped with the Android and IOS. E7mi facilitates the contact tracing of people who have been in contact with an infected person (symptomatic or asymptomatic). It contributes to detection and management of patients faster.
One of the most important characteristics of the Covid-19 virus is that once a person is infected with it, he or she may remain asymptomatic for up to two weeks. During this time, the person is contagious to his or her environment, including the possibility of random infection. This process is repeated for each person affected by the virus and it becomes very difficult to stop the spread.
The E7mi application offers a solution to this problem. Once the application has been downloaded and installed, it automatically starts to detect and store the interactions that have occurred, that is, every time one is within a few meters of another person who has the application, without revealing the identity of the user in order to respect personal data.
