Sample Transport

Overview

R4H supports MOH in transporting clinical samples and laboratory results from health facilities to molecular labs and back to the ordering healthcare facilities respectively. Samples Include dried blood spots (DBS) for viral load and early infant diagnosis of HIV (EID), Sputum samples for Laboratory diagnosis of TB, and a wide range of samples for diagnosis of many other infectious and non-communicable diseases.

R4H Couriers use the application to capture information about samples and results transported in the Sample Transport CommCare application which runs on mobile tablets.

The major challenge for this system is the tracking of transported samples and results. Once the samples have been delivered, there was no systematic way in place to track the status of the samples progress.
