Overview
The MOTECH system is used by Community Health Workers to track the care provided to women and newborns. It involves using low-end mobile phones with the MOTECH Java application installed at rural health facilities. Nurses enter patient data into forms on the mobile phones, which is then sent to the MOTECH servers. The system checks the healthcare information against the recommended treatment schedule by Ghana Health Service. If a patient misses a scheduled care event, the Mobile Midwife service sends a reminder message to the patient. Additionally, healthcare workers are notified when the patient's status changes.
